Man United 4 -  2 Bayer Leverkusen.

First Half:

After several games against teams such as Chelsea, Liverpool and Crystal Palace, United were finally able to conjure up some relatively decent attacking oppurtunities. The opening 20 minutes were quite quiet, however, with both managers preparing cautious approaches in their inaugural Champions League bouts. Shinji Kagawa, who has caused some controversy in recent weeks with Japanese and Dortmund fans annoyed by his lack of starting play, finally started the game. He looked bright for the majority of the game, but for most of the first half, the most United could create was a few long chances for Van Persie and Rooney. However, Wayne Rooney managed to score in controversial circumstances.
Not only was Patrice Evra possibly offside, Antonio Valencia was bothering the keeper in an offside position, which is certainly affecting play. United played superior for the rest of the First half, not creating too many more chances.

Second Half:

After the restart, there were far more attempts into both penalty boxes as both teams adopted furtherly attacking approaches. Rooney had a fantastic chance with brilliant control of the ball to get past the German team's goalkeeper but he failed to convert the golden oppurtunity, being torn between a pass to his team-mate Robin Van Persie or to take a possibly more difficult angle of taking a shot. He passed the ball with fury between both targets, for the ball only to go wide.
Leverkusen however equalised quickly after, as Simon Roulfe's shot deflected off Michael Carrick straight into the net, with De Gea stuck to his feet. United responded well, as Van Persie volleyed the ball for a goal, with goalkeeper Leno being at fault again.
Not long after, Rooney scored again with his 200th goal for Man United, making it 3-1.
The best goal of the entire night came later when Antonio Valencia made it 4-1 with a brilliant counter-attack, involving Van Persie and Rooney, was finished by Antonio Valencia.

As the game was soon to end, Leverkusen got a goal back through Omer  Toprak..
